Calvin Luo
Designer Calvin Luo took inspiration from The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette for his SS18 collection. The show took place at one of my favorite museums- The Whitney Museum of American Art. Metallics, mesh knits, and ruched dresses- I can totally see myself wearing some of these pieces!
Luar
Raul Lopez debuted this fashion week with his first full women's RTW collection. The runway show was composed of 18 looks- think massive belts layered over deconstructed, playful office-wear inspired pieces. Quote from Lopez via Vogue on his inspiration- "every aspect of my life has been influenced by strong and controversial women and paying homage to them was long overdue."
Sies Marjan
A new favorite brand of mine. Designer Sander Lak invited guests to view his latest collection in the Sies Marjan atelier. The show was an explosion of color, prints and playfulness, packed with utilitarian-inspired cargo pants, crinkled sweaters and silk dresses. Lak designs for the most effortlessly confident woman.
Helmut Lang
As seen by Shayne Oliver. A quote from Oliver post-show, "What I liked the most was that [Lang made] staples, just things you needed. And everything else was built on some sort of fetishtic idea. That's the only thing I brought back." Oliver is king of fetish, if you're familiar with HBA. The most talked about on social media? The easy-access bra bag.
Calvin Klein
Probably the most discussed show from NY (and my favorite!) so CK is coming in last. Do you really need an explanation? I limited myself to 8 of the most wearable looks, although I easily could have included them all.
